About Passports

The U.S. Embassy in Majuro processes passport applications for the Marshall Islands.  Currently, processing time for most passports is a minimum of one month.

All applicants must appear in person at the Embassy to make their passport applications.

Old passports will be returned when the new passport is picked up, which must be done at the Embassy.  The applicant will be notified when the passport is available to be picked up.

Passports issued to minors

Both parents' consent is required before a passport can be issued to a minor under 16 years of age.  If one parent cannot appear at the Embassy a statement of consent MUST be submitted.

The Department of State requires that such statements of consent be notarized.  The statement must give the non-appearing parent's unequivocal and unconditional consent to the issuance of the passport, and must be notarized before foreign notaries or local officials authorized to take acknowledgments and witness signatures.
